How to Plan a Multi-Day SignUp

Build Volunteer Schedules, Recurring Events, and Multi-Date Activities

Last Updated June 17, 2026

Multi-day SignUps work well for volunteer schedules, recurring classes, sports seasons, and anything that spans more than one date. The setup process has three main phases: define your spots, select your dates, and add optional details.

Step 1: Create a New SignUp

Log in and click Create New SignUp from your Dashboard. Select Multiple Days as the SignUp kind, complete your basic details, and continue to the Spots step. SignUp recommends planning 3 to 5 months out at a time for the best experience.

Step 2: Define Your Spots

Spots are the individual items participants can claim — a shift to work, a food item to bring, a meeting to attend. For each spot, set:

  • Number of participants needed (or "Unlimited")
  • Spot type: do/attend or bring
  • Title and optional timing (start time, start/end time, or no time)

Use Add Another to quickly create similar spots, or Add Shifts to generate recurring time slots (such as 2-hour blocks with breaks between them).

Step 3: Select Your Dates

Click the calendar to assign your spots to specific dates. For recurring activities, use Set Up a Repeating Schedule to configure weekly, monthly, or daily repetition. The system will display a summary of the total spots being created before you save.

Step 4: Add Optional Details

Add supplementary information for participants — allergy notes, parking instructions, dress codes, or links to external files (Google Drive, Dropbox, YouTube, maps). Then choose a background theme and invite participants or make manual assignments.
